A Lunar New Year Celebration 2022 @ The Kennedy Center

The Kennedy Center’s Lunar New Year Celebration is back, commemorating the Year of the Tiger!  It’s a free event that will run from January 27, 2022 – February 6, 2022.  The Kennedy Center has been honoring this traditional holiday for years, mostly observing it through performances and many activities for both kids and adults inside the main building.  However, with the addition of the REACH, which adds on new classrooms and outdoor space to the campus, the Lunar New Year Celebrations have been able to take place mostly outdoors in addition to some performances at the Millennium Stage.

This year, the REACH Winter Lanterns PLUS returns with a beautiful arrangement of about 100 lanterns lit by colorful LED lights, all crafted by Chinese artisans.  You’ll be able to walk through the grounds at the REACH and view various lanterns of butterflies, pandas and see creatures among many others.  The grounds are open for you to see the lanterns on any of the nights from January 27^th through February 6^th.  The PLUS, which includes extra activities and photo ops will only be available on Thursday through Sunday evenings of those dates.  The first Thursday – Sunday will feature Chinese activities and displays and the following Thursday – Sunday will feature Korean activities and displays.  The REACH Outdoors and Millennium Stage performances are free!  Please check out the Kennedy Center’s website for more information.
